Expats with OMR300 salary can now bring families to Oman

Salary requirement has been reduced to half

An expat employee can now bring family members to Oman if he is earning OMR300per month, thanks to a new amendment.

Earlier, the minimum salary required for such a visa was OMR600, a Times of Oman report says.

"The visa condition for family members joining an expatriate employee has been amended from a minimum salary of OMR600 to OMR300," Shura Council Member Sultan bin Majid Al Abri tweeted, the report said.

In an exclusive statement for Al ShabibaTimes of Oman's sister publication, Al Abri pointed out that the decision has been made on a recommendation of the Shura Council, and as part of one of the initiatives of the Tanfeedh programme.

He emphasized that the move would go a long way in boosting the local economy and revitalising sectors like real estate, retail, insurance and others.
