Dubai: Traffic jams continued into the afternoon on many roads of Dubai on Monday, especially around the World Trade Centre area, including Zabeel and Zabeel 2 roads.
Dubai Police’s Control and Command Room said traffic is moving slow on Oud Maitha Road, heading towards trade centre, as many visitors are flocking to the Cityscape Exhibition on its first day.
Police advised motorists to avoid using Zabeel roads or Oud Maitha Road and take alternative routes, including Al Khail Road.
A broken down vehicle on Shaikh Zayed Road during the afternoon rush hour added to the traffic congestion around the trade centre roundabout.
Traffic is also slow on internal roads in Deira.
Two Arab people were killed on Dubai-Al Ain Road on Sunday when a woman who was said to be speeding rammed into another car with four people in it.
Two people were killed while three others, including the woman, sustained moderate to serious injuries.
An Asian pedestrian was killed on Shaikh Zayed Road when a car ran over him as he was trying to cross the road from an undesignated area.
A truck driver sustained serious injuries on Emirates Road when his truck turned over as a result of speeding. He was airlifted to the hospital.
Two other pedestrians also sustained serious injuries when a car ran them over on Salah Udden Road.
